Bowditch Parents,

Please join us on Thursday, November 18th at 5:45pm in the Media Centerfor a parent presentation on "Drugs and the Adolescent Brain".

This program is part of the SMFCSD's ongoing effort to promote drug
abuse prevention and education in our schools.

The presenter will be　Ralph Cantor and the topics he will cover are listed below.
Following the presentation, at 6:45, we will have a brief meeting　for all those parents interested in working on the 8th Grade Promotion festivities this year.

We will be selecting the 8th Grade Promotion Chairs,and we will be soliciting volunteers for various committees. (Sweatshirts, food, decorations, etc)

The format will be different this year, so come with your ideas!

これはアメリカ版保護者会の連絡網で最近私に届いたメールです。

これは実際2003年から2006年の間私の娘たちが通ったカリフォルニア州の現地校の保護者会からの連絡になります。

メーリングリストにまだ入れてもらっているので、今もこうしてメールが届きます。　

こういったメールが容赦なく、英語が好きだろうと好きでなかろうと仕事の関係などで
アメリカに転勤になってすぐの日本人家庭に続々と届いてくるので、それに対処していくのが保護者の仕事になります。

こういったメールが来ると「一体これはどういう意味なの？私はどうしなければいけないの？主人は忙しくて聞けないしどうしたらいいの？」
と日本人の奥さんたちはてんやわんやになります。
みんな電子辞書を片手にこういうこと？、ああいうこと？と質問の嵐。　　
私もずいぶん意味を聞かれました。

このうえ、現地校は両親のボランティアはあたりまえで、コミュニティのために貢献しなくては日本人の株が下がります。
いつまでもお客様ではいられません。

親も大変なのですが、一番大変なのは子供たちで、月曜日から金曜日はアメリカ人と同じ現地校に通い、土曜日は日本語を忘れないように日本語補習校というところに通っていました。
その上、日本に帰っても日本の受験でも対応できるようにと、平日の週2日くらいは日本の塾まで行っていたのです。

ほんとに、精神的にも肉体的にも休む暇がなく大変だっただろうと思います。　　　
でも、まあ、かえって鍛えられて結果的に良かったのかもしれません。
